The Envoy is a historic mid-rise, 8 story condominium that is located in the Kings Hill Historic District of Northwest Portland. The building was constructed in 1929 and in need of some basic exterior maintenance. Tatley-Grund was chosen as the contractor via competitive bid. The scope of work consisted of exterior cleaning, concrete repairs, sealant replacement and coating of the exposed concrete surfaces. The building had numerous cracks, spalls, and failed sealant. The work was performed via swing stage scaffolding. After the concrete and sealant repairs were complete, the exposed concrete surfaces were coated with an elastomeric coating.
Owner: The Envoy Owners Association
Architect: RDH Building Sciences
Contract Value: $310,000
The work was performed during the summer of 2016. The building has operable casement
windows that serve as the fresh air in to each unit. During the repair process, a significant amount of coordination between the owners and TG was required to ensure each window was closed to accommodate the operation of the swing stage equipment. All in all, the project was a success – completing on time and within the budget.
